About the book

Some books ask where we came from. This one asks something more radical: what if the universe began not in matter, but in consciousness?

In Dreams, ‘Evolution’ and Value Fulfilment, Seth proposes an origin in which dreams, imagination, energy and consciousness precede physical form. From this perspective, the world does not arise from dead elements that happened to learn how to live; it emerges from a primordial creativity continually becoming matter, species, experience and reality.

Dreams occupy a central place here. They are not merely mental residues of waking life, but an inner dimension through which human consciousness itself is said to have learned to orient itself, communicate and build the physical world. Seth describes ancient forms of consciousness closer to this domain and presents dreaming as an original field of learning, a connection between species and a practical source of information. What we now call waking consciousness would be just one of many possible ways of focusing awareness.

This is also why ‘Evolution’ appears in quotation marks. Seth describes more than a linear sequence of mutations and survival: a creative expansion of consciousness in which each living form seeks to realise its potential while contributing to the fulfilment of all the others. He calls this value fulfilment: the inherent impulse that leads every being, every species and every portion of reality to develop the quality of its own existence within a deeply cooperative adventure.

Throughout this exploration, genetics, reincarnation, probabilities, creativity, species, matter and consciousness begin to reveal themselves as facets of a single living architecture. Seth leads the reader towards a vision in which the universe is not a finished machine, but an event continually recreated — and in which every individual participates, through dreams, desires and choices, in the very process by which reality becomes real.
