About the book

What if the God of the Old Testament could remember, explain himself and answer directly to the creatures whose lives he shaped through his designs?

In The Memoirs of Yahweh, Jan Val Ellam brings together chronicles and dialogues attributed to the biblical creator himself, presented as records of a tense, uncomfortable and deeply confrontational mediumistic relationship. In them, Yahweh speaks about the origin of his creation, his covenants, his chosen people, his relationship with Enoch, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad, and the forces that challenged his power and changed the course of the universe throughout history.

Yet these pages do not form a peaceful confession. Each time Yahweh attempts to justify his actions, the author’s critical voice rises to accuse him of authoritarianism, manipulation, violence and an inability to understand human freedom. From this confrontation emerges a portrait of an unstable, proud and contradictory entity who slowly begins to recognise his own limits.

As he absorbs the emotions, thoughts and values produced by humanity, Yahweh begins an unexpected transformation. The creator who demanded obedience starts seeking understanding; the one who imposed covenants begins asking for dialogue; and the deity who considered himself absolute discovers that he depends on his own creatures to evolve.

The Memoirs of Yahweh thus presents a provocative narrative about power, responsibility, creation and redemption, in which humanity’s journey proves inseparable from the psychic evolution of the very god it learned to fear, venerate and question.
